Vanguard Packaging Announces Gold and Bronze Wins in the 2021 Shop! Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) Awards Competition

KANSAS CITY, MO (May 3, 2021) — Vanguard Packaging, founded in 1975, a leading designer and manufacturer of value-added point-of-purchase displays is pleased to announce the winning of two coveted Shop! OMA Awards. The Shop! Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) Awards program, now in its 63rd year, is the Marketing at Retail Industry’s most prestigious, largest, and longest-running awards contest. It recognizes and honors excellent displays that set the merchandising and design precedents of today to become the standards of tomorrow.

Vanguard Packaging and Garland Foods won a Gold OMA Award in the Food – Temporary Display division for their Garland Half Pallet Display for Winn-Dixie.

Garland Foods tasked us with finding a unique way to merchandise fresh produce on a floor display within the produce department of Winn-Dixie. The display had to be temporary in design, yet industrially sturdy to able to withstand the retail produce environment that would be moisture rich with probable wet product and to withstand being restocked multiple times. The display must be versatile, easily positioned and must NOT require any special or unique tools for assembly. Most of all, the display must be visually appealing, encourage shopping, be easy to shop, and depict a natural and healthy “farm-fresh food” feeling for shoppers.

The display was a success, surviving the produce floor for about five months—longer than the expected three months. When the customer presented the display at one of Winn-Dixie’s “Display Stores” events, the director of produce called out the display saying, “it was the highlight of the show.”

Vanguard Packaging and Manna Pro Products won a Bronze OMA Award in the Mass Merchandise – Permanent Display division for their Manna Pro Flock Party TSC End Cap.

Manna Pro, creator of Flock Party, had a vision to design an eye catching semi-permanent end cap that would build brand awareness, support new product launches, and drive consumers in-line to explore every-day products. Manna Pro’s overall goal was to grow annual sales through incremental shelf placement at Tractor Supply. The objective was to design a free-standing end cap that was able to withstand 10-12 months on the floor and 5 rotations of differentiated product assortments. The program is currently still set-in stores and Manna Pro has achieved 150% of expected forecast for the first 17 weeks.
